Ernani Sátyro Foundation
Ernani Sátyro Foundation is a entity created and supported by State public power that has its headquarters and acting in Patos and near counties and is considered to be one of the most important motivated cultural point of the region.
Created under State law number 5048/88, ERNANI SÁTYRO FOUNDATION has the aim to motivate culture in Patos' counties and near other counties and keeps in memory his patron Ernani Ayres Sátyro e Sousa, who was born in Patos and was Governor of the State of Para&iacte;ba, Federal Representative in 8 legislatures, Ministry of High Military Court, State Representative, Mayor of the Capital, writer, member of the Paraibana Academy of Letters, member of the Brasiliense Academy of Letters and also member of the Campina Grande Academy of Letters.

All that heap is found in permanent exposition at Foundation headquarters that is located in Ernani Sátyro's ex-residence in Patos. The heap is of great importance for researchs an political life of Paraíba and Brazil, not to mention that Ernani Sátyro worked hard in relation to national political affairs; member of a famous "music band"of UDN, National President and lider of UDN in the National Congress, lider in the Governor of President Costa e Silva in Representative Chamber, reelator of amnestry, direct elections and civil code projects approved by Reprsentative Chamber. There are more than 40.000 items catalogued which are letters, telegrams, manuscripts, photographs, typed originals, cutting of newspapers, books, old copies of newspapers and magazines, booklets, pamphlets, medals personal belongings etc.
Searching for the purpose to obtain its aims and intents, the Foundation since its creation, has developing cultural activities on courses, talks, meetings, not only about the life and the work of his patron, but also about different aspects of the literarym oikutucakm sicuakm economical and financial life of the region, of the State and of Brazil. It has been presented artistic exibitions, related to arts, theatre, dance, music folklore etc. The Foundation maintain its own Library, without counting with Ernani Sátyro's Library. Toth are opened to studentes and researchers.
Complete Works - One of the most important aim of Ernani Sátyro Foundation to keep its patron memory has been the continuous publishing of Ernani Sátyro Complete Works (organized by Flávio Sátiro Fernandes). The start plan to this project is about 37 publishing volumes, including novels, poems, speeches, parlamentary speeches, legislative judgments, juridical works, literary essays, chronicles, interviews, short stories, correspondence etc. So far six volumes were published: O Quadro-Negro (The black board) (novel) Mariana (Mary Anne) (novel), Grande é a vida (Great is life) (sunday chronicles, written when the author was the Governor of the State), Discursos Acadêmicos (Academic speeches) (speeches made in literary societies where he took part), Retratos a bico de pena (picture of a thumonait sketch) (parlamentary speeches related to different famous character profile such as Getúlio Vargas, Castelo Branco, Agamenon Magalhães, José Américo de Almeida, Assis Chateaubriand, Santiago Dantas, Otávio Mangabeira, Augusto dos Anjos e outros), Tradição e Renovação (Tradition and Renewal) (given speeches occured along the period when he was the Governor) .
Parallel to Ernani Sátyro Complete Works, the Foundation keeps other kind of editorials publishing the Paraibano Novel Collection and the Municipal History Collection. The first mentioned above was published the novels Emboscadas do Destino (Ambush of the destin) and O Chefe Político (The politic chief) both written by Manuel Otaviano and the novel O Brasileiro (The brazilian) written by Ascendino Leite. The second collection was published the book Retalhos do Sertão (Pictures of backwood) written by José Permínio Wanderley.
